Downham Stow CC announce signing of young New Zealand star

Downham Stow Cricket Club has announced the signing of New Zealand Under-19 international Fergus Lellman for the 2021 season.

The all-rounder has played 12 times for his country since making his debut against Bangladesh in September last year.

And he was a member of the New Zealand squad which finished fourth at the Under-19 World Cup in South Africa earlier this year.

The club, which has thanked Steven Hirst of the CricX agency for his help to secure the signing, announced Lellman’s arrival in a post on its Twitter feed on Tuesday evening.

It said: “We can’t wait to welcome Fergus to the club and look forward to an exciting summer ahead.”

Speaking to CricX, Lellman said: “I can’t wait to join Downham Stow CC for the 2021 season and help contribute to the success and goals of the club and its members.”

Lellman, who plays his domestic cricket for Northern Districts, follows in the footsteps of players including the recently retired international batsman Daniel Flynn.
