Downham Stow brings in Norfolk opening bowler from East Anglian Premier League rivals Great Witchingham

Downham Stow has made a major signing for the 2025 season by swooping for Norfolk opening bowler Brett Stolworthy.

The signing of Stolworthy is a huge statement of intent and is terrific news for both the club and cricket in the West Norfolk area.

Stolworthy has been a force to reckon with on the county scene for several years and is 16th in the all-time list of East Anglian Premier League wicket-takers.

A statement from Downham Stow read: "Brett has been a standout performer in the East Anglian Premier League for many seasons and is one of the league's leading wicket-takers.

"He is also a key figure for Norfolk CCC, with many caps and many wickets."

On the arrival of the fast bowler, Downham Stow skipper Pat Yates said: "Brett is an amazing signing for the club and shows how far we’ve come as Downham Stow to be able to attract Norfolk's opening bowler in his prime.

"We’re looking forward to seeing Brett on the field in April and the experience and quality he brings to the group will hopefully rub off on everyone else too."

Stolworthy's signing arrives hot on the heels of both Sachindu Colombage and Hudson De Lucchi last week.

De Lucchi and Stolworthy have both been snapped up from Downham Stow's EAPL rivals Great Witchingham, who they will travel to on the opening day of the 2025 season.
