Runners-up Downham Town end fine season with a victory
Downham Town finished their 2018 season with victory as they ended up in second place in the Norfolk Alliance Premier Division.
And in what was an excellent season for all of the area's teams, it is is believed to be the first time that West Norfolk sides have occupied the top-four places in the final league standings.
Hosting Garboldisham, the opposition chose to bat first on a damp wicket, which proved difficult to score on.
Two brilliant spells of bowling from Downham's Addam Todd (1 for 19 off 10 overs) and Rob Hooton (2 for 13) left Garboldisham in a poor position.
Some late hitting from Pask and former Downham oversees player Kurt Richards got Garby up to a respectable score of 160 for 9. Australian, Nathan Green ended up with two wickets to finish his season with 37 league wickets in what was a great campaign for him.
Downham got off to a good start with the bat as Ian Harrison flew to 48.
When he was unfortunately stumped, it set off a bit of a collapse as Gould, Gregory and Yates all came and went.
It was left to Green and Addam Todd, who both scored 24, to finish things off, with Chris Sharp helping Town over the line.
Although disappointed at not winning the league after being clear at the halfway stage, it was a great season and Town can be very pleased with the way they played with such a young team.
