King's Lynn Badminton Club begin new season

An excellent turnout saw the start of Lynn Badminton Club’s winter season recently.

Established in 1947, Lynn Badminton Club is one of the oldest and largest clubs in West Norfolk, based at Lynnsport Leisure Centre and welcomes new players who enjoy playing badminton in a friendly and competitive atmosphere.

The club welcomes men, ladies and juniors who wish to play with experienced players and was pleased to offer for the first time welcome packs for any member or visitor on the evening.

Also displayed were newly produced merchandise of branded water bottles, towels and shirts as well as a folder showing newspaper clippings and photos of the club’s 70-year history.

Anyone signing up as a member within the first two weeks will receive a free club water bottle or towel.

Looking into the season, the club have organised Louise Coulyer, a level 3 Badminton England coach and the 2017 over 40’s ladies doubles champion, to attend two club sessions for coaching.

The club will be holding fun competitions through the winter as well as a number of non-badminton socials.

New visitors are welcome to attend any of the club nights, every Monday and Thursday 7pm to 10pm, with the first session free and £6 per visit after that.

Membership offers great value for money at just £149 for a three-hour session every Monday and Thursday between 7pm and 10pm running through until the end of March 2020, costing just £2.72 per session.

Membership with the club also brings benefits within Badminton England with reduced rates on equipment and clothing.

The club held its AGM in the summer with Gary Buckby voted as chairman, Edward Howes as secretary, Liz Mcintosh as treasurer, Russell Gillies as match secretary, Helen Arnold as welfare officer and Tom High and Tom Davey as club captains, all of whom are committed to ensuring the club is as welcoming as possible with well organised club nights and competitive matches between other clubs within the Ouse Valley League.
