Wins for Downham Town and Fakenham Town in Thurlow Nunn Premier Division while Heacham suffer defeat and Swaffham Town draw in First Division North

There were excellent wins for both Downham Town and Fakenham Town in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division this afternoon while Heacham lost on their travels.

Less than 48 hours after their incredible Norfolk Senior Cup triumph at Wroxham, a depleted Downham outfit were at it again as they returned home with all three points following a 2-1 win at Harleston Town.

Despite travelling without seven first-choice players, Downham once again defied the odds with Fletcher Toll firing them into a 2-0 half-time lead.

The joint Downham Town management team of Dale Stokes and Craig Dickson continue to see their side defy all the odds on the pitch.

Toll now has 27 goals league and cup goals in a Downham shirt this season and, although Harleston pulled a goal back early in the second half, the visitors deservedly held on for a crucial three points.

The win leaves Downham five points off the play-off places in sixth spot in the table but they do have a game in hand over both Thetford Town, in fifth, and Mulbarton Wanderers in fourth.

Next up for Downham is a trip to Heacham on Monday.

Fakenham Town continued their recent good home form with a 1-0 home success over play-off chasing Thetford Town.

Jake Watts scored the only goal of the game at the Daly Group Stadium and the Ghosts have now taken points off three of the top five sides in the division in their last three home games.

The Ghosts travel to Sheringham on Monday for their second fixture of the Easter period.

Heacham are still without an away win since the first weekend of the year after a 2-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Ely City.

Jack Friend registered both goals for the Robins in a game that saw both sides reduced to 10 men in the first half, Nathan Davies being sent-off for Heacham.

In the First Division North, Swaffham Town fought out a goalless draw at home to AFC Sudbury Reserves.

The Pedlars travel to Dussindale and Hellesdon Rovers on Monday.
