West Norfolk youngster makes her mark at England Schools Athletics Association Combined Events Regional Finals in Corby
West Norfolk AC’s under-17 athlete Anya Faithorn delivered a standout performance at the England Schools Athletics Association Combined Events Regional Finals.
Held last weekend at Rockingham Sports Stadium, Corby, Faithorn represented Norfolk in the Inter-Girls heptathlon.
Faithorn rose to the occasion with four personal bests across her seven events — an impressive feat in the demanding world of multi-event athletics.
Her personal bests came in the 80m hurdles (18.9s), high jump (1.27m), 200m (29.9s), and long jump (3.69m).
She also threw 7.87m in the shot put, launched 23.48m in the javelin, and completed the 800m in 3:31.4.
With a points total of 2,190, Faithorn secured 13th place overall in a highly competitive field.
Competing across two days in hot and tiring conditions, her performance reflects not only physical ability but also mental toughness and determination.
West Norfolk AC coaches and supporters hailed the result as a “fantastic achievement” and believe this is only the beginning for this talented young athlete.
