Fakenham are beaten in Norfolk Alliance Division Two clash





Play in the Norfolk Alliance Division two fixture between Fakenham 2nds and Martham started at mid-day but was settled quickly at Highfield Lawn.

In bright sunshine but in blustery conditions, Fakenham 2nds won the toss and decided to bat.

The total was 14 when Keegan-Monahan Fairlea was bowled for seven.

The only notable partnership was for the second wicket which was for 21 runs.

A flurry of wickets saw the home side slump to 60-6 with Will Carter making 21 and Rhys Lough making 11.

The Martham bowlers were on top and only Jeremy Wright, batting at number five, was left on 28 not out as wickets tumbled around him.

The home side were bowled out for 96 after 35.4 overs.

in reply, Martham's opening pair of Alex Sayer and Lewis Dunn went on the attack and put on 91 runs for the first wicket.

Rhys Lough bowled Dunn after an entertaining innings of 44.

Alex Sayer finished on 46 not out as Martham won by nine wickets in the 18th over.

Fakenham 3rds beat Swaffham 2nds

by 6 wickets

James Cawston and Billy Lawlor put on a winning unbroken partnership of 153 runs for the fourth wicket as Fakenham's third string ended the campaign with victory over their local rivals.

It completed a good day for Cawston who also picked up two wickets in the Swaffham innings. The pick of the Fakenham attack in the field was Jude Parsley with 4-48.

Swaffham 2nds 239-8 in 45 overs (Dillon Walker 105 not out, Toby Walker 35, Daniel Hutchinson 27; Jude Parsley 4-48, Tilly Freakley 2-50, James Cawston 2-50).

Fakenham 3rds 240-3 (Daniel Heyhoe 54, James Cawston 73 not out, Billy Lawlor 66 not out).
