Five-star Swaffham Town go third

The Pedlars produced an impressive performance against a young academy side.

It took just four minutes to break the deadlock, Joe Jackson picking up the ball on the corner of the 18 yard area and scoring in the right-hand corner.

Jackson doubled Swaffham’s lead four minutes later from an Alex Vincent corner and a third also came from a set piece with Ryan Pearson heading home a Nick Castellan free-kick.

Three minutes later Vincent added his name to the scoresheet before Jackson missed a chance to complete his hat-trick from the penalty spot.

A further penalty award saw Pearson make it 5-0 in the second half with Sudbury netting a consolation goal on the stroke of full-time.

The victory saw Swaffham move up to third in the table.

Downham Town 0

Mulbarton Wanderers 2

Downham missed out on an opportunity to go second in Thurlow One North and were duly punished for two mistakes in two minutes on Saturday, writes Roy Dougal.

Mulbarton took full advantage of sloppy errors in quick succession when scoring in the 64th and 65th minute from Sam Whiting and Ben Thompson respectively.

Downham never looked like scoring after that.
