Haverhill Borough 3 Swaffham Town 0

Both the Pedlars’ first and reserve teams went down to 3-0 defeats at the weekend.

The first team’s loss was away to Haverhill Borough in the Thurlow Nunn League Division One, while the Reserves bowed out of the County Junior Cup to Long Stratton Reserves.

Both games held little excitement, the wind and poor playing surface making football difficult at the New Croft.

The result leaves the Pedlars fourth in the Thurlow Nunn Division One table.

Paul Hunt’s squad have a period to rest, recover and review as they are without a fixture next Saturday.

The Reserves are back to normal business, at home to Costessey Sports in the league, kick-off 2.30pm.

Better news with the Under 18’s, a 3-2 well fought victory away to Soham Town Rangers on Wednesday. This Thursday they are home to Fakenham Town, kick-off 7.45pm.

The Hospital Cup commenced last week, Sporle taking the initiative, beating Gayton 2-1 in a well matched and entertaining fixture.

The next fixtures are on November 4, Necton v Narborough; and November 6, Great Massingham v Swaffham Town.

l Downham Town lost 4-0 at AFC Sudbury, which puts the Memorial Field outfit in 12th position.

Downham tonight (7.45pm) entertain sixth-spot Haverhill Borough, weekend victors over Swaffham.
