Saturday was a busy day for Denver Football Club.

In the afternoon they drew 3-3 away to Upwell ‘A’ in their first pre-season friendly. Goals from Ben Young and Callum Cottey gave Denver a 2-0 lead at half-time but 12 minutes after the break Upwell were back on level terms.

Denver edged ahead again thanks to an own goal before the home side levelled again with a fine long range strike just four minutes from time.

In the evening the club held its presentation night at Denver Bell. Matthew Wolfe collected the Top Goalscorer award; Nick Martin was named Most Improved Player and Ben Young won Manager’s Player of the Season. Ethan Hill scooped the coveted Players’ Player award, edging out captain Ciaran Pennock-Halpin by just one vote.

James Armitage and Jack Roe, respectively representing kit sponsors Morris Armitage and PKS Construction, presented the awards. The trophies were kindly donated by Ian Stuart who was presented with the club’s Number One Supporter award.

Denver compete in the North West Norfolk League and are currently recruiting new players for the coming season. Anyone interested should contact manager Larry Halpin on 07730548050.
