Swaffham Town’s first team had their fixture postponed due to an unfit waterlogged Ely City pitch and this gave an unexpected boost for star striker Alex Vincent and the Reserves team.
The Almary Green Anglian Combination Division Three Reserves flew the Pedlars flag for the afternoon and gained three well earned points in an entertaining fixture against South Walsham.
With Kurtis Callaby, Jack Prentice and Joe Porter all out through injury, this provided a place for Vincent to have a run out following his hamstring troubles.
The hosts’ smooth flowing play made opportunities for Vincent easy and he bagged an impressive five goals including two with his head in the 6-1 victory, Korben Willis being the other scorer.
The Under 18’s bowed out of the Thurlow Nunn Youth Cup in midweek.
Aylsham were far more up for it from the start, with Swaffham slow to get into the game. The visitors took the lead, Swaffham equalised but conceded another before half-time. Two goals in quick succession left the young Pedlars a huge task and too little time to do it.
Final score: 4-3, Jack Prentice and Matthew Blackford (2) on the score sheet for Swaffham. No game for them this week, as their fixture was postponed to accommodate re-arranged fixtures in the Youth Cup.
The first team Thurlow Nunn Premier Division Ely fixture will now be played on Tuesday, March 28.
