FA Cup first qualifying round
King’s Lynn Town 4
Wroxham 1

King’s Lynn Town booked their place in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup with a comfortable win over Wroxham at the Walks this afternoon.

Kern Miller and Lee Stevenson both scored twice in a first period that the Linnets totally dominated, before former Lynn player Jamie Forshaw pulled one back for the visitors after the break.

With an unchanged line-up from last weekend’s league win over Poole Town, Lynn began brightly and were ahead after only three minuts, when Miller headed in Michael Clunan’s corner.

Clunan himself fired narrowly wide from a free-kick soon afterwards and Lynn were denied a penalty when Liam Hurst appeared to be shoved over in the box.

They also had a goal disallowed before Stevenson ghosted through the Yachtsmen’s defence to double his side’s lead after 23 minutes.

He repeated the dose to slide home his second and Lynn’s third five minutes later.

And when Miller headed in another corner seven minutes before half-time, Lynn’s place in Monday’s second qualifying round draw was effectively secured.

The only two sour notes for Gary Setchell’s team were some sloppy defending that allowed ex-Linnet Forshaw to give his side hope on 58 minutes and an injury to Miller that forced Lynn to play the last 25 minutes with 10 men, after Setchell had earlier made a triple substitution.

But Lynn could, and perhaps should, have had a fifth late on when Toby Hilliard headed wide from a free-kick.
