Thurlow Nunn League

Premier Division

Newmarket 1

Swaffham Town 0

Defeat on Saturday at Newmarket capped a disappointing week for the Pedlars.

Newmarket’s goal came from one of the few threats from the opposition.

Joe Jackson went closest for the Shoemakers Lane side, chipping the keeper from 18 yards, his effort hitting the bar and returning to the beaten goalkeeper!

Further concern is the injuries picked up, potentially affecting the Easter fixtures this weekend. Jack Gould is suffering with a groin strain, Alex Vincent his hamstring. Fortunately for the Pedlars, this weekend the other clubs around them came away without points also.

At Walsham, a controversial penalty decision in the first half hit the Pedlars hard and they struggled to recover.

The Under 18’s lost 3-1 their midweek Thurlow Nunn Youth Cup clash at The Walks, Toby Millward scoring for Swaffham.

Fakenham Town 1

FC Clacton 5

The Ghosts’ Sam Garner saw red late in the game, while Ricky Claxton made it 1-3 after 57 minutes.

Fakenham Town Ladies beat Lynn Ladies 3-2 at Clipbush Park.

Division One

Braintree Town 0

Downham Town 0

Dominant Downham had chances aplenty, but missed their opportunities to win the game at tenth-placed Braintree.

Downham: Clements, Cross, Yates, Edwards, Dougal, Calvert, Cox, Willmott, Merrishaw, Walker, Gilbert.

King’s Lynn Res 4 AFC Sudbury 1

No mid-week fixtures this week, on Saturday Stanway Rovers visit Shoemakers Lane in the return fixture following last weekend’s narrow defeat to the League’s second place side.

On Easter Monday the Pedlars travel to Mildenhall Town.

The Reserves collected a vital point at home to Fakenham Town Reserves. The 2-2 draw saw goals from Ben Harris and James Thompson clinch the point for the Pedlars. Next weekend they are away to Watton United and then play Downham Town Wednesday evening at Shoemakers Lane, kick off 7.30 pm.

The Under 18’s lost their midweek Thurlow Nunn Youth Cup clash at the Walks, Toby Millward scoring for Swaffham in their 3-1 defeat. No game this week, but a return to League action the following week.

The Veterans returned from their game against William IV Old Boys with a point, goals from Jimmy Chapman and Matthew Begg securing the 2-2 draw. Sunday 20 March they play Cringleford Old Boys.
