King’s Lynn Town Reserves were in seventh heaven against their counterparts from Needham Market.

After the game, joint boss Robbie Back enthused: “We’ve had a brilliant first half of the season.”

Lynn were five up at half-time through goals by Alex Clunan, a Jack Frohawk brace, Karl Tansley and Eion McQuaid.

Clunan got his second and Lynn’s sixth before the visitors were gifted a consolation. Substitute Jamie Burgess completed the scoring for Lynn, who ended the game with three 16-year-olds on the pitch, with a long-range strike to put the hosts into third spot.

The Norfolk Senior Cup quarter-final game at Wroxham has been arranged for Tuesday, January 12.

Downham Town’s brief winning run came to an end with a 4-0 reverse at high-flying Leiston Reserves.

Downham Town entertain Dereham Town Reserves at Memorial Field on Monday (December 28) while Lynn Reserves are now without a game until January 2.
