Southern League Premier Division King’s Lynn Town 1 Dunstable Town 1
Toby Hilliard’s first half goal wasn’t enough as King’s Lynn Town were held at home by Dunstable this evening.
The striker’s first for the club was cancelled out by a close-range James Kaloczi effort 13 minutes into the second period after Lynn keeper Alex Street failed to deal with a corner.
Lynn, who announced the signing of Lee Smith from Histon before kick-off, had the better of much of the first period and when Hilliard tested veteran Dunstable keeper Paul Bastock after just two minutes, the former Boston United stopper looked none too convincing.
Michael Clunan went close with a free-kick, while Sam Mulready’s heavy touch denied him a great chance to add to his two goals against Chippenham at the weekend.
The breakthrough eventually came almost two minutes into added time at the end of the half when Hilliard headed home Michael Clunan’s free kick via the underside of the bar.
But the visitors were level on 58 minutes when Street missed his punch when under pressure and Kaloczi had the simple task of nodding in David Keenleyside’s corner from close range.
Substitute Jacek Zielonka forced a fingertip save from Bastock with a low drive, while a goalbound Ryan Fryatt header was diverted behind.
Dunstable did have the ball in the net eight minutes from time, but a linesman’s flag ruled out substitute Geoff Mitchell’s effort after he slid in Victor Osobu’s initial attempt.
And Hilliard missed a glorious chance to win it in added time when he shot straight at Bastock when a missed defensive header had left him through on goal.
