Norfolk Senior Cup

Diss Town 4

King’s Lynn Town 1

Three goals in the final ten minutes saw King’s Lynn Town FC crash out of the Norfolk Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

The Linnets fielded a mainly-reserve side, strengthened by first-team squad members Steve Spriggs, Gregg Smith, Shaun Stocker and Chris Ward.

But Lynn’s Thurlow Nunn Premier League hosts were also forced to make changes with seven of their squad being cup-tied or having loan deals.

Chances were few and far between in a goalless first period. Matt Dixon wasted the home side’s best chance of the first half.

Meanwhile at the other end, it was Frohawk who created Lynn’s only notable effort on target.

Three minutes after the restart, the influential Jacob Brown burst into the box and set-up Jake McDowall.

A fine tackle by Tom McLeish denied the winger the opening goal, but Brown was on hand to stab home the loose ball past Luke Pearson.

Midway through the second period, Luke Biles’ surging run was stopped by Colin Wines, but the lively Frohawk was on hand to level matters.

Brown bagged his and the home side’s second goal with ten minutes remaining after his initial effort had come back off the woodwork.

Tangerines frontman Dixon, helped by Brown, made it 3-1 before an unfortunate own-goal from Ward ended The Walks outfit’s interest in the competition for another season.
