Fakenham Town Football Club have made new chairman and vice-chairman appointments as well as linking up with former Norwich City boss Nigel Worthington to lead the club forward.

The Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division club were due to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) concerning prospects for the future, while electing a new chairman and vice-chairman.

But the matter has been settled behind closed doors for The Ghosts. New club chairman is Andrew Jarvis, after it was announced that Bill Clayton would be stepping down, and new vice-chairman is Matt Hagon.

The club stated: “Fakenham Town Football Club are pleased to announce that the club have made two key appointments in order to lead the club forward.

“The Ghosts were due to hold an EGM with the main subject being the direction of the club, and prospects for the future, with the evening culminating in a vote to elect both a new chairman and a new vice-chairman.

“However after numerous discussions the matter has been settled behind closed doors, and a regular committee meeting was held instead in order to make the appointments official – an option stated in the club constitution.

“Taking control of the Clipbush Park hotseat is Andrew Jarvis, who has a number of years of Fakenham Town service both with the youth setup and more recently as assistant manager for the Ladies.

“Coming in as vice-chairman is Matt Hagon, one of the more recent additions to the Clipbush Park committee.

“The Ghosts would like to welcome both Andrew and Matt to their new positions within the club, and hope that with the help of the committee the future of the club is bright.

“The club is also delighted to be able to welcome Nigel Worthington on board as club ambassador.

“The EGM was called for by a long serving committee member, shortly after the announcement that the club’s chairman Bill Clayton would be stepping down from the position with immediate effect for personal reasons.

“The club would like to place on record their sincere thanks to Mr Clayton (who will revert back to his previously-held position as club president) for everything he has done for Fakenham Town FC.”

Tomorrow Fakenham Town entertain Felixstowe & Walton United, while Swaffham Town travel to Brantham Athletic.

The Pedlars’ Reserves last weekend were at South Walsham, goals from Joe Porter and Luke Greer securing an Almary Green Anglian Combination Division Three point.

Tomorrow they host Beccles Caxton for a mid-table clash at Shoemakers Lane.
