Swaffham Town warmed up for Saturday’s derby with Downham by sharing the spoils with Ipswich Wanderers at Shoemakers Lane.

Difficult conditions, made worse by a downpour as the match started, didn’t hold back the entertainment in a game of two halves.

Ipswich Wanderers, who enjoyed the better of the first half, took the lead after 25 minutes against a Swaffham team missing key defender, Richard Cornwall, through injury.

The Pedlars levelled through Rory Harper three minutes after the restart, before Joe Jacksonfired the hosts in front midway through the second period.

Wanderers redressed the balance with five minutes to go when goalkeeper Scott Cruickshank was unable to hold onto a stinging shot.

On the plus side for Swaffham, it was great to see Dwayne Hockton, making a return from injury, start the second half.

In a repeat scoreline, Swaffham Town A shared the points with Castle Acre Swifts, with Blake Stangroome claiming both goals for the hosts.
