King’s Lynn Town 0

King’s Lynn Town’s two-game unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of a Redditch side who bounced back from their shock FA Cup exit of the previous week.

The Reds looked a different side which suffered a 2-1 humiliation to Hinckley AFC seven days earlier with a goal in either half enough to see off the Linnets.

Linnets boss Gary Setchell fielded the same starting line-up that defeated Wroxham last week.

The only change came on the bench where defender Matt Castellan was included with Lynn opting not to include a substitute goalkeeper.

Redditch named former Linnet David Bridgewater, now a Redditch coach, on the bench. A scrappy first half saw few chances for either team.

Redditch took the lead on 28 minutes through Jamie Ashmore, Jamey Osborne’s clever pass setting him up to just beat Alex Street to the ball.

Kyle Hynes had the only other notable chance, his long range shot being taken comfortably by Street, whose nickname is Pedro.

Redditch went further ahead six minutes after the restart, Lee Shearer given too much time and space on the edge of the box, and he found the bottom corner.

The home side could have gone further ahead when Osborne was upended in the box by Street after he and Kern Miller had been involved in a defensive mix-up.

Fortunately for Lynn, referee Mr Taylor judged that the ball was going away from goal and Street escaped with just a yellow card.

Street then redeemed himself by saving Daniel Dubidat’s spot-kick.

Lynn’s best chance of the game at the Valley Stadium arrived on 73 minutes when a Ryan Fryatt header forced a point blank save from Jose Veiga.
