Reffley Under 12 Blacks FC are celebrating a cup triumph to cap another successful season after winning the Mid Norfolk Youth League Sub Cup 2016.
Reffley won through in a hard-fought match against Fairstead, with a last gasp winner to finish the game 1-0 victors after both sides had a number of chances, in the tense and exciting final. Reffley went close in the first half with Jacob Tarry forcing good saves from the Fairstead goalkeeper who was later given the man of the match award by the league organisers.
In the second half, both sides hit the bar before some great play from Jake Berycz in the Reffley midfield released Ben Leggett on the left wing who managed to squeeze the ball across to Josh Davis who rounded the ‘keeper to score the winning goal with two minutes of normal time remaining.
Reffley coaches Gary Pooley and Tim Maxwell were full of praise for their team.
Pooley said: “I couldn’t be more proud of the whole team. Every single player gave their all and I’m so pleased they have been rewarded by winning the cup. We came up against a very good Fairstead side today and the win just underlines what a great team we have.”
