Luton swoop for former King's Lynn striker from Peterborough United

Former King's Lynn Town striker Joe Taylor has completed a move to Luton Town.

The 20-year-old, who signed for Peterborough from the Linnets in 2021, has put pen-to-paper for the Championship outfit for an undisclosed fee.

Luton manager Rob Edwards told the club's website: “Joe’s an exciting young player and someone that the recruitment team here have been tracking for a while.

"He’s very quick, he gets chances and we really like the look of him.

“He’s still inexperienced at the moment, but we feel he will be a really good asset for the club going forward, someone we are looking forward to getting in the building and working with.”

Chief recruitment Officer Mick Harford added: “We have tracked Joe for a long period of time, and have got many reports on him.

"We’ve seen him play in many various types of game, at training grounds and at the main stadium, and he always seems to be on the shoulder of the last defender, looking for that ball over the top to run in behind.

“He’s got good pace and we believe he’s a real threat who will always create chances for himself. He needs a little bit of work and time, but we believe we can develop him into a top striker here.”

Taylor left Lynn for Peterborough in November 2021 after being given no chance to prove himself at The Walks.

At that point, the teenager had made one appearance for the Linnets, but he starred for Thurlow Nunn Premier Division side Wroxham where he netted 21 goals in 13 appearances.

His eye-catching appearances for Peterborough United's youth sides have led to Taylor making 15 appearances in all competitions this season for the Posh senior side.

In September, the forward, who spent the early part of his youth career on the books of Norwich City, made his debut for Wales U21s in a 2-0 defeat against Austria U21s.
