King's Lynn sign former Republic of Ireland under-21 international ahead of FA Cup tie against Peterborough Sports

King's Lynn Town have bolstered their attacking options ahead of Saturday's Fourth Qualifying Round tie against Peterborough Sports.

The Linnets have brought in attacking midfielder Josh Barrett on a permanent deal at The Walks.

Playmaker Barrett arrives at the club from Bristol Rovers following an education in football at Championship side Reading where he played with current midfielder Ethan Coleman.

Bristol Rovers terminated the contract of Barrett last month after featuring for the Gas 11 times throughout the 2020/21 campaign.

Whilst developing with The Royals in the early stages of his career, Barrett made a number of appearances for the Under 21 Republic of Ireland side.

His first senior club appearance came back in the 2015-16 for Reading, before developing his game during loan spells with Coventry City and Aldershot Town in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

It was the following two campaigns that the 23-year-old re-staked his claim for first-team appearances at The Madejski Stadium, following in the footsteps of similar players developed by Reading's highly-rated youth system to progress onto the main stage.

Barrett isn't cup-tied and is free to play in Saturday's clash against The Turbines at The Walks.
