King’s Lynn Stars speedway number one Niels-Kristian Iversen finished fourth in the penultimate 2015 Grand Prix round in Torun on Saturday night.

On a night where Britain’s Tai Woffinden was confirmed as a double World Champion, Iversen made a solid start to the meeting with a second place in his opening ride at the Marian Rose Motoarena.

Iversen, who has already secured his place in the series next season, followed the two points up with a third place in his second ride, and then a vital race win in heat 11. A place in the latter stages was in doubt following a last place in his fourth race, but a second place in the Dane’s last qualification heat was enough to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

Eventual winner Nicki Pedersen won the second semi ahead of Iversen, who fought hard for a final place. The pair joined Jason Doyle and Maciej Janowski, who qualified from the first semi.

Off the worst gate, Iversen was last going into the first bend, and despite his best efforts he was unable to reach a place on the podium as Pedersen won from Doyle and Janowski.
