Fakenham boss delighted with Norfolk Senior Cup success against Thetford
Andy Cunningham was full of praise for his Fakenham Town players after seeing them come through a tricky Norfolk Senior Cup tie on Tuesday night.
The Ghosts were 2-0 winners against league rivals Thetford Town, who had two players sent-off at the Daly Group Stadium.
Louis Henman-Mason and Jake Watts scored the goals to see Fakenham through.
Cunningham said: "I was really pleased with the Thetord result and got the reaction we were looking for after Saturday's disappointment.
"We were able to rotate players with the volume of games we have. The first half was okay, a fairly even game.
"In the second half, we were much better and thoroughly deserved our win. We created plenty of chances and controlled the game in the periods we needed to."
Next up for Fakenham is a trip to Ely City tomorrow in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division before an FA Vase trip to Thetford Town - the third meeting between the two sides in the space of a few weeks - next Saturday.
"The fixtures have piled up, but players would probably rather have lots of games," admitted Cunningham.
"Every game is a tough game in our league and our next two are no different. Ely is a tough side to beat, particularly at home, but we will want to take a positive result.
The FA Vase game is also another big game and the third time we will have played Thetford in three weeks and we expect that to be another really close game, but we are looking forward to all the challenges that lie ahead."
Elsewhere tomorrow, Paul Hunt's Heacham will be looking to build on last week's home win against Ipswich Wanderers when they travel to third-placed Mulbarton Wanderers.
In the Isthmian League North, Downham Town return to action after an enforced break with a trip to Walthamstow.
