Plenty of titles and personal best times for West Norfolk club
At Dereham, it was Ryston Runners’ golden oldies who dominated the podium, with Pete Johnson (84th overall/69.45) and Jane Ashby (330th /87.26) taking the titles in the M and W 65+ categories.
Just ahead of Johnson, Kevin Farquhar broke 70 minutes for 10 miles, with a three-and-a-half minute PB of 69.32, while the other half of the “fenomenal Farquhars”, his wife Wendy (W55), herself also chalked up a PB of 2.02.59.
Having recently joined the Ryston ranks, Nathan Elsegood clocked 82.10 for his first outing over this distance, while his father, Martin (M50), also a recent Ryston convert, ran 1.57.44.
First home for Ryston was Dan Guppy, in 21st place with 61.39, while Anna Seaman (W40) led home the Ryston women, just behind Nathan with 82.17.
Others wearing Hares on their chests at this event were: Stephan Harris (M50) 69.57; Barry Smith (M50) 75.01; Keith Morris (M55) 91.23; Judith Berry (W45) 92.54.
Eamonn McCusker (M65) made what he calls his “annual trek” to Halstead for the marathon, hoping to improve on his London time of a few weeks ago, but finished in 3.56.01.
Graeme Leeson covered the off-road, self-navigated course of the Positive Steps Bury to Clare race in Suffolk, enjoying the sunshine and finishing the 18 miles in 11th place in 2.31.
