King’s Lynn parkrun still attracts good numbers despte taking place the same weekend as the GEAR 10k

Ryan Oakes (17:12) and Lisa Pyatt (21:36) led the way for the respective men's and women's groups at the latest Lynn parkrun.

With GEAR 10k taking place the same weekend, there was a smaller number of runners taking part in parkrun, but organisers were pleasantly surprised by the 299 who did take part.

Fifteen runners took part for the first time, together with 20 visitors from as far away as Torquay, Warrington and Harlow and a few closer to home from Cambridge and Norwich.

Special mention must also go to first-time runner Sally Claridge who, after only recently recovering from hospital treatment, set herself a target of attending and finishing parkrun.

Although she walked the course coming in with the Tail Walker, her determination to get round was noteworthy.

The title of Age Graded hero this week went once again to Pauline Sparrow who, although running as a 30-minute pacer, still achieved a very credible grading of 79.21%.

Thirty-three runners achieved personal bests.

Congratulations go to Georgina Webster and Guy Parrott, both on their 25th parkrun, and to Wendy Fisher, who missed getting a shout-out for her 350th last week.
