Grimston record comfortable win at Narborough in Norfolk Cricket League

Saturday saw Grimston travel to Narborough in their Norfolk Cricket League Division Four clash.

With both teams comfortably mid-table, it was a chance to shine without the pressure of promotion or relegation at stake.

Having won the toss, Grimston captain Andrew Tilbrook chose to bat, with openers Sam Adkin and Josh Leverett-King taking to the field in glorious August sunshine.

Opening bowlers J. Munford and A. Steeles quickly fell into their rhythm, with their line and length forcing the Grimston batters onto the defence.

When Leverett-King's wicket fell in the 10th over only 25 runs had been scored (17 from Josh), but the foundation had been set for Grimston to push on.

Adkin went on to top-score with 48, falling agonisingly short of his maiden 50, trapped LBW by the wily spin of S. Wymer.

Leo and Liam Woodcock added 31 and 30 respectively, and Fin Mallett scored 18.

The pick of the bowlers for Narborough was S. Wymer with 4-25 as Grimston finished on 195-9.

Narborough had an imposing total to chase but set about with methodical precision, exemplified by M. Lawrance crafting his way to a top score of 43 runs.

J. Munford scored 22 with S. Wymer adding 19, but Narborough could not contain the bowling attack led by Bharathi Krishnan with 4-28, Liam Woodcock with 2-16 and Fin Mallett with 2-5 including a two-wicket-maiden.

Narborough finished on 130 all-out.

Captain Tilbrook was proud of his side, saying: “Both our clubs have done well this season, and it was great to see an all-round display of cricket which the fans enjoyed.
