Hockwold Cricket Club achieve fifth promotion in as many years

Hockwold Cricket Club’s long run of success continues after achieving their fifth promotion in five years.

The club secured the Norfolk Alliance Division Four title with a five-wicket win over Rocklands CC on Saturday.

An amazing bowling performance came from Hockwold’s Carl Smith, who finished with the figures of 6.3-4-7-8.

The strength this year has come from Hockwold’s batting line-up, with big guns, brothers Euan and Joel Gilmour, leading from the front.

Skipper, Roy Bland, has again proved consistent, scoring 636 runs at 45.43 while the bowling line-up has proved itself more than competent again.

Club chairman John Ruddick said: “It has been another successful season with another title under our belt. I can’t praise enough the effect that club captain Roy Bland has had on our overall success, both on and off the pitch.

“His commitment to Hockwold, in all aspects of our club is outstanding.

“At Hockwold we pride ourselves on the standard of facilities available. We are a progressive club that has the potential to continue its run of success through the Norfolk system, well into the future.”
