Housebuilder hands over cheque for £500 which will be used towards upkeep of green

Bowlers from Hunstanton Bowls Club have been boosted by a £500 donation from McCarthy and Stone, the housebuilder behind the Eastland Grange Retirement Living Plus development in the town.

The contribution from McCarthy and Stone, whose project is under construction on Valentine Road, will go towards the upkeep of the green so its members can enjoy this great British sport in the best conditions.

Hunstanton Bowls Club’s picturesque grounds are regularly maintained by members of the club.

Eric Hurrell, treasurer at Hunstanton Bowls Club, was presented with a cheque for £500 by Lauren Duke, sales executive at McCarthy and Stone’s Eastland Grange Retirement Living Plus development in Hunstanton.

Eric Hurrell commented: “We are thrilled to receive this donation from McCarthy and Stone which we plan to use towards keeping our green in tip-top condition.

“This will mean that our members will be able to continue playing and enjoying the game in the best setting possible.”

Cheryl Bissett, sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone East Midlands, said: “We are delighted to support Hunstanton Bowls Club.

“We can see the important role the club plays in the community, helping people across the town to enjoy bowls and reap the benefits of participating in the sport.

“As a company, we appreciate that our responsibility is not only to build quality, purpose-built retirement communities, but also to create a positive legacy in the areas in which we build.

“We are proud to support those who share our values and are helping to make a difference to the lives of others in Hunstanton.”

McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living Plus developments are exclusively designed for the over 70s to bridge the gap between conventional retirement living and residential care.

Retirees are able to retain their independence in the form of home ownership, yet still have the peace-of-mind of a range of additional security and support services.
