King’s Lynn boss delighted with draw against National League North leaders Tamworth

King's Lynn Town manager Adam Lakeland felt his side were good value for their point against league leaders Tamworth on Saturday.

In a game of two deflections, Kyle Finn gave the visitors a lead early in the second half before Owen Devonport netted his third goal in Lynn colours to earn a point against the champions-elect.

Lakeland said: “I thought it was quite a tight game, but I felt we maybe edged it.

“I don't think anybody that was neutral that looked at that game for the first time would have thought that we were the team where we are and they're the team that are going to win the title. If anything, I felt we looked like the better side.

“The goal that we conceded was poor and frustrating and the game was very scrappy then and there wasn't really any rhythm or flow to it for probably 20, 25 minutes.

"But the players kept going and kept believing and I felt we finished strong and getting that goal was the least that we deserved. It just keeps us keeps the run going.”

The run edges Lynn closer to safety as they extended their unbeaten sequence to 10 games, but Lakeland doesn't think his side are home and dry just yet.

“I must repeat that I don't consider that we're home and dry yet because this league just flips so quickly,” he said

“We’re very close, I think, but I do think we'll probably need to get a few more points.

“But I'm also confident that we will get them. But I've always had confidence that we'll get to where we need to get to.”

Lynn were excellent against the Lambs and Lakeland was full of praise for the midfield duo of Cameron Hargreaves and George Morrison.

Hargreaves had an outstanding game in the middle of the park while Morrison won the header on the edge of the box that led to Devonport's equaliser at the death.

“I thought him and George in the middle of the park today were brilliant,” admitted Lakeland.

“Just always there, landing on second balls, landing on things and breaking through that midfield line.

"The pair of them they've forged a real good relationship both on and off the pitch.

"Cameron's been superb since I came here. I think there's still aspects of his game that he can and will improve, but he's an important player for us, for sure.”
