King’s Lynn boss spells out his summer plans once the club’s National League North status is confirmed

Adam Lakeland has told King's Lynn Town fans not to expect a revolving door of players in the summer once the club has confirmed its league status for next season.

The Linnets were very active in the transfer market mid-season to help transform their squad halfway through the National League North season.

And it has reaped its rewards with the club just a few points away from safety after looking destined for the drop earlier in the campaign.

Lynn currently sit third in the current form guide after picking up 14 points from their last six games and Saturday's 1-1 draw against league leaders Tamworth at the Walks stretched the club's unbeaten sequence to 10 games.

Lakeland admitted there is still work to be done this term, but when asked about his plans for the close season, he said: "I'm a big believer in consistency and I don't like a revolving door of players.

"We've had to give the squad quite major surgery in this six months but I like the group I've got and I think we've got a lot in that group.

"We're naturally going to lose the lads who are on loan but I don't feel like we need to bring in as many as we maybe did three or four months ago because of the recruitment we were able to do in January.

"Obviously, we signed Greg (Taylor) and Owen (Devonport) and their loans will come to an end at the end of the season so we'll have to see what happens on that front.

"But I think that some of the other lads, who maybe people thought it could be the last year, I think they've got so much more to give after where we've got them to in that six months and where they'll be after one of our pre-seasons."

Lakeland feels the current squad is now a lot stronger and fitter than when he first arrived in Norfolk and he will endeavour to add some extra quality being added to the squad.

"I think some of the other players have improved in that six months as well so you know, we'll need to add probably six to eight players in the summer.

"It's fair to say we need to bring in quality but as I've said I do like this group.

"We've shown in the last 10 games we're building a resilience and a mentality that we can compete and pick up points regularly and that's what you need to do in this league.

"It'll come down to a good summer of recruitment just to add to what we've got and hopefully we can be competing at the other end of the league next year."

The Lynn boss hopes the club's plans to remain full-time next season will help make his job of attracting players a lot easier in the months ahead.

"I'd like to think so," he said.

"I know it's easy for me to stand here and say it and I must just repeat that I don't consider that we're home and dry yet because this league just flips so quickly but we're very close I think.

"I do think we'll probably need to get a few more points, but I'm also confident that we will get them.

"I've always had confidence in where we need to get to and in terms of next season, I don't know why anybody wouldn't want to come here.

"It's a great club, full-time and we've got ambition next year to kick on so we'll just have to see."
