Eight of the King’s Lynn-based teams enjoy weekend victories

It was a weekend to remember for Pelicans with all seven of the club's senior teams recording victories on Saturday.

In what turned out to be a brilliant Saturday for everyone connected with the club, there was only one narrow defeat across nine matches at all levels.

The girls’ development side was also triumphant, making it eight wins from nine in total.

Among the highlights was a dramatic 4-3 away win for the men’s first team, who showed outstanding resilience to come from behind against Cambridge South in their first away fixture of the season.

The hosts struck early with a powerful shot from the top of the D, but Pelicans responded strongly, earning a series of short corners.

Their persistence paid off when Miles Doncaster pounced on a rebound from Sam Philips’ shot to level the score.

Cambridge South started the second half brightly, scoring twice in quick succession to lead 3-1, but Pelicans refused to crumble.

Ian Simons lifted the ball smartly over the keeper to pull one back, before a high press from Le-Neal Jackson and Jack Bass created another opening.

Bass’s perfect pass found Simons again, who made no mistake to make it 3-3.

With momentum firmly in their favour, the visitors completed the turnaround when Ollie Booth finished a fine team move with a deft flick into the bottom corner - his first league goal for the club.

A late short corner for Cambridge South threatened to spoil the celebrations, but Pelicans keeper Dan Upton produced a vital save to secure all three points.

Man of the Match: Ollie Booth for a superb all-round performance and a first league goal to cap it off.
