Heacham league hosts hardbat doubles night
The first half of the Heacham Table Tennis League season was finished by a great evening with the Christmas hardbat doubles fun night.
Twelve pairings were put into two groups with each pairing playing five games of eight minutes' duration.
Playing on three tables, pairings had just two minutes between each game to get to their next designated table which everyone just managed to do.
After three games in each group there was one pairing in each group looking odds-on favourites to win their group.
However runners-up places were up for grabs up to the very last game.
In group one it was Mike Nobes and Mick Minns who came out as winners with Ian Rix and Ivan Parr just edging out Benji Richardson and Eileen Needham by just one point to finish as runners-up.
In group two, the winners were Jim and Jeff Race with Stephen and Aaron Jackson taking the runners-up spot.
In the semi-finals, the Races beat Rix and Parr while Nobes and Minns edged home over the Jacksons.
In a closely-fought final it was the Races who just had the edge.
The evening finished with sausage rolls, mince pies, Christmas cakes and biscuits, tea and coffee.
The league campaign restarts on January 6.
