LEARN MOREGrimston Cricket Club welcomed 24 budding cricketers to their All Stars kids coaching programme on Monday, the ECB’s flagship cricket course designed for 5-8 year olds.
With the weather perfect and the grounds looking magnificent, participants enjoyed a range of games to cover batting, bowling, fielding, and general fitness.
Club chairman Tim Tilbrook was delighted at the turnout, saying: “To think only a few years ago the club almost folded – now look at it! We have a thriving youth section and a fully stocked adults team.”
Club press officer Sam Adkin echoed those thoughts, saying: “It’s fantastic to see so many children here, being active and enjoying cricket – if even a handful of these go on to play at older age groups it’s a huge success.
“All of the credit lies with the adults who have brought the kids down, and the volunteers who are the heartbeat of this club.”
The final approval goes to the participants, and Maisie Shepherdly (6) confirms: “I enjoyed my first lesson and can’t wait for the next one, all of the activities were fun.”
Grimston CC's All Stars programme is fully booked, but if you or your youngsters are inspired to get into cricket visit ecb.co.uk/play.
They will be offering coaching for older kids during the summer – follow their Facebook or Twitter pages.
