Two teams of 80 national banger drivers will race

The Lynn-based Trackstar Mafia will be in action at Mildenhall this Saturday (5pm) when they take on the Mildenhall Fen Tigers for the second National Banger Head to Head.

Two teams of 80 National Banger Drivers will race in the Unlimited Bangers, 2L Bangers and Micro Bangers.

The inaugural Head to Head took place last year where the Mafia dominated the afternoon’s proceedings to run out dominant winners scoring 1,600 points to the Fen Tigers’ 400.

The format is a unique one in the National Banger calendar featuring two opposing teams and the races are also unique with the races and destruction derbies seeing the winner take all of the points for their team.

Following last year’s dominant display the Trackstar Mafia are confident of getting the job done on away turf but are under no illusion that turning over the Fen Tigers on their home track will not be easy.

Last Saturday saw the Unlimited Banger World of Shale take place at King’s Lynn. More than 100 Unlimited Bangers were in action – a record turnout for this event.

Norfolk’s Lee Clarke became the second driver to win this title more than once in the event’s 27-year history. Kieran Bowman was once again putting it about well and delivered another hugely entertaining performance.

Hunstanton 2L Stock Car star Willie Skoyles had a night to forget as he left the night pointless and suffered damage in the first all comers where he was followed in and ended up riding the fence. Lee and Jamie Sampson both placed in the All Comers with Jamie’s fourth place in the second all comers race being the pick of the placings.

The feature race of the day – the Bumper Trophy – was won by Norwich’s Shane Emmerson.
