Niels-Kristian Iversen will not start the 2016 Elite League season for King’s Lynn after confirming his situation to the Stars management on Monday.
Iversen, who has been Lynn’s most consistent rider for the past five seasons, had been deliberating over his future in the UK but has decided not to commit to a full season in the Elite League.
The Danish hotshot has left the door open to return, should a situation arise where he can step back into the team.
Stars boss Rob Lyon said: “I know it was a tough decision for him and that is why it took a while to get an answer. However, Niels has made it very clear that should we have any injuries or similar problems, we can go to him for help.
“It wasn’t an easy decision for Niels, but he felt something had to give and at the moment that’s the UK. I am sure it is not the last we will see of him in Stars colours in the future.”
The Stars management have now begun their search for a new number one.
