The King’s Lynn Roger Warnes Transport Stars have added Grand Prix racer Jason Doyle as they track a strengthened side against iconic Polish speedway team WTS Sparta Wroclaw in the International Pre-Season Cup on March 18 at the Adrian Flux Arena.
Along with the seven members of the Stars team, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Robert Lambert, Rory Schlein, Mads Korneliussen, Kai Huckenbeck, Carl Wilkinson and Lewis Rose, Buster Chapman has booked Australian ace Doyle to add strength to the side.
Doyle will come into the team as an addition, with a different format being used against Wroclaw. Each team will have eight riders with everyone getting a chance to fight for their team. Raced over 16 heats, the battle between the two teams is expected to be a hotly contested one with experienced internationals and young rising stars up against each other throughout.
WTS Sparta Wroclaw will send over a strong side with current World Champion Tai Woffinden and Grand prix star Maciej Janowski leading their team. Both will offer a test to the Stars top-end and that will produce some close action with early season bragging rights up for grabs.
A ten-man squad will travel to the UK for the challenge meeting. Sparta bosses will have to narrow that down to eight riders after a private practice session on Thursday. Their team includes Vaclav Milik, Nick Morris, Szymon Woźniak, Adrian Gała, along with Maksym Drabik, Damian Dróżdż and Przemysław Liszka.
International Pre-Season Cup will finish with a bang. The final race of the night, heat 16, is one not to missed. The top points scorers from each team will take to the Saddlebow Road track with pride and crucial points at stake.
An excited Chapman said: “This meeting will kick off our season, and what a meeting it is to start with. The riders included from both teams are fantastic and I am predicting a very good, close meeting. Of course we want to win.
“Adding Jason to our team gives us more top end strength, but I think we are solid all the way through. By using an eight man format, each of our team gets a ride and that is important at this stage in the season.”
Admission prices will be the same as for Elite League meetings this year; Adults: £17, Concessions £14, Juniors £5, Kids under 11 free. Gates will open at 6pm with the introduction of riders at 7.30pm and first race taking place at 7.45pm.
Tickets will be on sale soon, more details will be released in the next few days so keep an eye on social media.
