A patched up King’s Lynn Roger Warnes Transport Stars moved back into the Elite League play-off places on Thursday night with a 51-39 win over Leicester at the Adrian Flux Arena.
Rob Lyon’s side, aided by three guests, needed a win to move back into the top four after dropping out on Monday night.
Following a shared opening heat, Lynn’s reserves broke the deadlock with guest Carl Wilkinson heading home Ashley Morris for a 5-1.
The Stars moved further ahead with a second 5-1 of the night in Heat 5 when Wilkinson followed fellow guest Kevin Wolbert over the line.
Leicester did managed to close the gap to four point momentarily at the turn of the meeting, but the Stars hit straight back with consecutive 4-2 advantages which restored their eight point lead.
Heat wins for top scorer Niels-Kristian Iversen in Heats 13 and 15, with Stars guest Dakota North and Kenneth Bjerre finishing third respectively in each, secured the 12 point win on the night.
Meanwhile, a frustrated Stars team boss Rob Lyon said in the meeting programme: “On the subject of guests, one thing I do want to highlight is the unwillingness of Belle Vue to let us use their riders as guests.
“We as a club have never refused one of our riders who want to guest for another club; at the end of the day they need to earn a living.”
