Norfolk star scores eight points in final event at Chorzow in Poland
King’s Lynn skipper and Great Britain international speedster Robert Lambert has finished third in the Speedway Euro Championship.
The Norfolk star, who won the second round of the series at Gustrow in Germany on July 14, scored eight points in Saturday’s fourth and final event at Chorzow in Poland.
He faced a nervous wait for the last two races to determine his finishing position before being confirmed as a medallist in his first year in the competition and an automatic qualifier for 2019.
Denmark’s Leon Madsen, a former Poole rider, clinched the title with an 18-point maximum with experienced Pole Jarek Hampel, once of Ipswich, finishing as runner-up overall.
The Foulsham-based rider’s podium spot adds to the haul of representative medals and titles he has won this season including being crowned 2018 British champion.
Top five: 1 Leon Madsen (Den) 38pts, 2 Jaroslaw Hampel (Pol) 34, 3 Robert Lambert (GB) 33, 4 Emil Sayfutdinov (Rus) 30, 5 Mikkel Michelsen (Den) 28.
