The King’s Lynn Stars will open their 2016 speedway season with a challenge meeting against Polish side Wroclaw on Friday, March 18, in the second staging of the International Pre-Season Cup at the Adrian Flux Arena.
Rob Lyon’s side took part in the inaugural meeting of the competition two years ago when Zielona Gora made the trip from Poland to Norfolk.
Although the Stars came off second best that night, the meeting, presented by Team Player Management Company, was a huge success with a large four-figure crowd packing into the Saddlebow Road venue.
Making the trip over to the UK is iconic Polish side Wroclaw, led by two-time British World champion Tai Woffinden and fellow Grand Prix star Maciej Janowski, the former Lynn rider.
Sparta, as they are also known, finished runners-up in the Polish Ekstraliga last season behind Leszno.
Stars chief Buster Chapman is excited by the prospect of the competition coming back to Lynn.
He said: “After hosting the first staging of the event last year, we are delighted Team Player Management Company are bringing it back to us in March.
“Wroclaw’s side is a very good one and with both Tai and Maciej in their side, I’m expecting a large turnout.
“The Polish fans that travelled over created a fantastic atmosphere in the stadium and I am sure we will see an equally as good turnout.
“It will be our first competitive meeting of the year so we will want to start it on the right foot and open with a victory.”
More information and ticket prices will be announced soon.
