Matty Allen third overall in RAF duathlon championships
It was a cold, wet and windy start to the season for members of King’s Lynn Triathlon club.
Matty Allen was in action twice, coming third overall in the RAF duathlon championships (5km run/20km bike/5km run) in 1hr04 on Thursday, and then finished 3rd in his age group on Sunday at the Bedford standard-Duathlon (10km/ 39km/ 5km) with a finishing time of 2hrs08.
Geraldine Jordan and Arthur Sargent were at Sunday’s Ely Duathlon (5km/25km/5km). Jordan finished in 1hr45, first in her age category and 6th woman overall. Sargent finished in a time of 1hr52 despite numb feet from the cold for the 2nd 5km run.
Sunday’s weather was more suitable for the final race in Ryston Runners’ XC series, however. Esmie and Lola Kidman were 4th in the U13 (3km) and U11 (2km) categories respectively, with Lola just holding off fellow member and Renegade Thomas Elsdon to finish in 9min01s.
In the adults’ 6.5km race, Dan Guppy finished 6th overall for Ryston in a time of 22min36, followed by Alistair Doig, Ian Kidman, Mark Doughty, Debbie James, Emma Thompson (Ryston) and Karen Wood, who finished 2nd in her category. Overall in the series, Guppy was 2nd in his cat, Wood and James were 3rd in theirs and Simon Hardy and Simon Riches were 2nd and 3rd respectively in their VM50 cat. KLTC won the series prize for the most improved club.
