King’s Lynn under-20s start title defence in style
Under-20 players from Lynn Roller Hockey Club continued their excellent start to the new campaign with victories over Grimsby, Colchester and ECU in what was a busy week of action for the club.
Last year’s defending champions conceded early against Grimsby, but a brace for Ewan Cann and further efforts from Matt Baker and Josh Horn eventually saw them run out 4-3 winners.
A 10-2 victory over Colchester followed before Ethan Shread scored his first goal for the team in an 11-3 success against ECU.
It was a tough outing for the club’s under-15 side who finished fourth overall in a strong league at Letchworth.
Although Ria Griffin was on target early against the hosts, Letchworth eventually ran out 5-1 winners.
Against ECU Gold, Griffin broke the deadlock only for Lynn to concede an equaliser going into the interval.
Lynn took control after the break with Alfie Poppy (2) and Griffin helping them to a 4-1 win.
Poppy also found the back of the net during a 3-1 loss to the unbeaten ECU Blue in their final match.
The club’s under-11 team, who handed Oliver Kirk a debut, showed a fantastic display of teamwork and determination when they travelled to Letchworth.
It didn’t take Kirk long to get into the swing of the game, blocking and challenging a number of opponents.
Although results didn’t go Lynn’s way, the team stuck together and worked hard as a unit. Goalkeeper Lacey Vincent was player-of-the-match.
Thanks go to hosts Letchworth and All Signs for sponsoring the new kit.
