King's Lynn club on the lookout for next batch of West Norfolk basketball talent
Despite a national pandemic causing chaos for all, King’s Lynn Basketball Club are working harder than ever to bring real opportunities to the young people of West Norfolk.
Junior basketball is on the rise and head coach Mitch Embling said: “The main objective right now is to get the word out to as many parents and young people as possible that this fantastic structure for junior basketball development is right here in our very own little town.
“We are searching for new members as we now work to increase participation numbers in our youngest age groups, especially for beginners.”
After a successful entry campaign into the junior national basketball league across 2019 and into 2020 for both the Under-14s and Under-16s, King’s Lynn Basketball Club is now home to some of the most talented players in the entire county through the Under-16 and Under-18 age groups, who are aiming to pick up right where they left off.
The club now boasts a brand new Under-14 development group, alongside their fantastic new Mini Ballers Under-10 and Under-12 groups aimed specifically at primary school aged boys and girls, providing opportunities for all on the back of the pandemic.
The club is now reaching out into the West Norfolk community in search of the next generation of young players aged 6-13 at what is a critical point in the development of the programme.
Embling said: “The main aim right now is to give children from this area equal opportunities to play and a framework to succeed within the sport of basketball similar to those on offer in other areas of the UK and across mainland Europe.
“Our passion here is helping children to develop into the best version of themselves, supporting them properly every step of the way while doing so.
“We provide an inclusive environment for all ages and want to make as many people as possible aware that these fantastic opportunities for children to get involved in the fastest growing sport in the country are available to all right here on our doorstep in King’s Lynn.”
The club is based at Alive Lynnsport, one of the nicest facilities for sport and basketball across the entire county of Norfolk.
“We couldn’t ask for a better place to be, honestly it’s fantastic here,” Mitch added.
The club currently run mixed gender sessions for beginners, Under-10s and Under-12s, with boy’s teams currently running at Under-14s, 16s and 18s respectively with spaces available in all groups.
Talented players can be put forward for opportunities in the junior national league, with the club’s local league teams providing development playing opportunities for all levels and all ages.
