Swaffham Town bagged three deserved points in a 3-0 home win over Leiston Res to keep the title race alive ahead of their home cup semi-final tonight (Tuesday).

The wind gave neither side an advantage and dropped as the game progressed. The Pedlars had the majority of the possession and opportunities in the first half but were unable to convert.

The opener came in the 56th minute with an off-the-ball incident. New signing Ben Coe was deliberately tripped, and Ryan Pearson fired home the resulting penalty into the left-hand side of the net.

Pearson then made it two in the 64th minute, Tommy Hunt playing him through, from 16 yards to leave the away keeper with no chance.

Pearson became goal-maker a minute later, crossing from the left-hand touch line, and Thomas Wagg looped a header over the keeper.

Swaffham have games in hand on leaders Harleston Town and second-spot Mulbarton, reclaiming third place ahead of their First Division Knockout Cup game against Holland. Their Reserves get back to league action next Saturday, Beccles Caxton visiting Shoemakers Lane, and the U18s host Dereham Town on Thursday evening.
