Tru Plant Stars ace Robert three points behind leader

Tru Plant Lynn Stars skipper Robert Lambert finished second in the first round of the World Under-21 Championships in Latvia.

He sits three points behind meeting winner and defending champion Maksym Drabik ahead of the next round at Leszno on July 22.

Tomorrow’s visitors to Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena, Leicester, have bolstered their injury-hit side with the signings of Ricky Wells and Charles Wright, the latter who was axed under controversial circumstances following a row in the pits.

The duo replace sidelined pair Danny King and Kyle Newman and are set to ride against Lynn.

Lions co-promoter Dave Darcy said: “We are sad to see Danny and Kyle leave because they are two great guys, but in Danny’s case in particular we don’t know how long he’s likely to be out.

“It was a situation which had to be dealt with and these decisions have been made in the best interests of Leicester Speedway.

“We welcome both Ricky and Charles to the Lions and wish them well for a successful stay with the club.

“They’re fine riders and we know what Charles can do after he rode for us on Monday at Wolverhampton.

“Once again this shows Leicester Speedway aren’t prepared to stand still, we’ve made things happen.”

Leicester are also due to track former Lynn rider Kennenth Bjerre, the ex-Grand Prix ace.
