Linnets see their Southern League Central Premier play-off hopes dented in West Midlands
Ian Culverhouse conceded his side were not good enough against Rushall Olympic at Dales Lane as King's Lynn Town slipped to their third defeat in five away games on Saturday.
Chris Henderson gave the Linnets an interval lead but two strikes in the final 20 minutes from Rushall’s Joe Hull and Tyler Lyttle condemned the Linnets to a disappointing defeat to dent their play-off hopes
There was more late drama after Lynn skipper Michael Clunan saw a late penalty - his second spot-kick miss of the week - saved by Matthew Sargeant in the home goal before Aaron Jones saw red late on to complete a miserable day in the West Midlands.
Linnets boss Culverhouse said: "We simply weren’t at the races today.
"A week ago we were talking about a fine performance and today we are talking about a poor one. We were fortunate to have the lead at the break but we did little in that second spell to add to it and we have ended up paying a big price for it.
"Conditions weren't the best underfoot and the strong wind wasn’t helpful, but sometimes it’s like that and you have to find another way of getting your work done and today we haven’t found that solution.
"I have no need to stand here and criticise the players because they know that today as a team they have not been good enough.
"We are all in this together so we go away now analyse the situation, put the work in on the training pitch in the week in readiness for next Saturday.
"This league still has a long way to run and we have to be in their mixing it and fighting for every point week in and It’s my intention to make sure that we do just that."
Despite the poor performance, Lynn remain third in the Central Southern League standings, although only two points now separate them and the side's in fourth and fifth while Coalville, who trail the Linnets by four points in seventh spot, still have two games in hand on the Walks outfit.
