Downham Town in seventh heaven in Thurlow Nunn Division One North




Thurlow Nunn Division One North leaders Downham Town were in seventh heaven at the weekend.

Jack Frohawk (3), Ben Baxter-Hunt (2), James Dougal and Luke Plumb all found the back of the net in a 7-1 win over Needham Reserves.

Joint manager Dale Stokes said: "The scoreline was a bit flattering to be fair. Needham played some nice football, especially for a spell in the second half.

"At 3-1, the next goal was massive and we were clinical when it mattered most."

Elsewhere, Fakenham Town suffered a 3-2 reverse at Diss Town, where Josh Youngs and Cameron Beazer were on target for the Ghosts.

King’s Lynn Town Reserves went down 2-1 at home to Felixstowe Reserves, who ended the game with ten men.

In the Premier Division, Swaffham Town ran out 4-2 winners on home soil against Gorleston.

Joe Jackson opened Swaffham’s account in the tenth minute, only for the Greens to level matters nine minutes later.

Dean Miller headed a Nick Castellan corner and Ben Coe converted from five yards to put Swaffham 3-1 to the good.

Gorleston reduced the arrears from the penalty spot before Swaffham’s final goal came in the 65th minute from the spot, Jackson firing home to cement his brace for the afternoon.
