Two goals in a minute broke King's Lynn Town hearts as promotion-chasing Chesterfield made it five wins on the bounce at The Walks.

On the day the Linnets pocketed an undisclosed fee for Kairo Mitchell from their league rivals, they showed great resilience for the first 70 minutes after Sonny Carey had given them them a half-time advantage.

But two clinical strikes in quick succession from Nathan Tyson and Tom Whelan saw the Spireites return home with all three points.

Lynn hardly touched the ball in the opening ten minutes and the first opportunity for Chesterfield saw George Carline head Martin Smith’s free-kick on the left wide of the target.

Chesterfield dominated long periods of the first half with Lynn content to hit their visitors on the break with the pace of Michael Gyasi.

Ian Culverhouse's side stunned the promotion-chasers by becoming the first team to score against them in more than seven-an-a-half-hours of football.

Simeon Jackson, who'd only been on the field for a matter of minutes, was brought down by Gunning and Carey stepped up to drill home the resulting free-kick.

Five minutes before the interval the visitors almost responded from a free-kick of their own, but Liam Mandeville curled wide from the edge of the area.

Just after the restart, the lively Gyasi cut inside on his right foot but blazed over the woodwork.

Ten minutes into the second half Carline robbed Denton down the left and delivered a low cross to the near post, where home goalkeeper Theo Richardson parried it into Yussuf and the ball trickled wide.

The visitors remained on top and Gavin Gunning volleyed over from five yards after Carline knocked on Tom Whelan’s corner.

Chesterfield's Laurence Maguire was the next player to fluff his lines from close-range as he was denied by Richardson after Nathan Tyson went close from the edge of the area.

It was only a matter of time before the visitors scored and The Spireites levelled matters when substitute Nathan Tyson fired home on the turn.

Less than a minute later they took the lead after Carline provided a cross for Whelan to produce another clinical finish.

Lynn missed a golden chance to level the scores in injury time after former Spireite Alex Kiwomya shot into grateful arms of Grant Smith.
