King’s Lynn begin their pre-season preparations with a 4-1 victory at Fakenham Town
The James Rowe era as King’s Lynn Town head coach began on a bright note as his new-look side eased to a 4-1 victory at Fakenham Town this afternoon.
The Step 5 Ghosts proved spirited opposition in the Linnets’ opening pre-season friendly, but Lynn’s quality told, especially after the break.
All 12 of the club’s summer signings featured in the match, and the team’s style showed a noticeable shift from last season’s play-off push with front-foot, high-tempo football from the first whistle.
Joe Nyahwema impressed with his energy and sharp touches, while full-backs Bailey Clements and Reece Hall-Johnson offered real attacking thrust.
At the other end, Luke Pearson made several sharp saves to keep Lynn’s first-half lead to a minimum.
Michael Gysai gave Lynn the early advantage, but prolific Fakenham striker Jake Watts levelled before half-time.
After the restart, Rowe’s men found another gear.
Gold Omotayo netted twice, a Fakenham own goal added to the tally, and Lynn carved out several more chances that they were unable to convert.
Theo Williams also caught the eye with arguably his best showing in a Lynn shirt during a lively second-half cameo, helping blow away the summer cobwebs in fine fashion.
The only squad player to miss out was Matty Warburton through injury.
