Ex-Leyton Orient, Cambridge United and Southend United defender signs for King's Lynn Town

Josh Coulson has completed a switch to King's Lynn Town following a successful loan spell at The Walks last season.

The popular defender becomes Lynn's first signing since dropping out the National League earlier this month and is a major coup for the club as they look to bounce back from relegation at the first attempt.

The 33-year-old – who has Football League experience with Cambridge United and Leyton Orient – joined the Linnets on a month's loan from Southend United in February before having the deal extended to the end of the season.

He started 21 National League games for Lynn, scoring one goal in a 1-1 draw at Dagenham & Redbridge in April after making eight appearance for the Shrimpers, who announced his departure last week, earlier in the season.

After agreeing to sign, Coulson took to social media to say: "Last season was a tough one for me both physically and mentally.

"When I joined on loan I quickly found the love for football again and fell in love with the club and the people.

"I can’t wait for next season working with a great group of lads."

On Coulson's return, Linnets boss Tommy Widdrington said: “Whilst the ultimate aim of retaining our position in the National League wasn’t achieved, I’m sure most will agree Josh immersed himself in the job at hand and quickly become a favourite in the dressing room and on the terraces.”
